History behind the project
This project was the idea of a businessman called David Jin. One day as he went exploring the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, he thought of sharing the experience of enjoying the Grand Canyon from a height with everyone. The project idea developed in the year 1996, David Jin got an approval for the project in the year 2003 and the project was finally completed in May 2011.
Safety of the project
If you are afraid of heights don’t be as this project is absolutely safe. The engineers found out that each square inch of the canyon rock can withstand approximately 16000pounds of pressure.
The sky walk is tested extensively to check if it can even withstand the heavy winds blown through the Canyon.
1 million pounds of steal and about 64,000 pounds of glass in used to build this amazing horse shoe shaped bridge.
